Samsung Galaxy A7 to debut soon after FCC visit

Even though the Galaxy A7 was leaked with the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5, oddly enough it never made it to the official announcement. While Samsung still hasn't uttered a word about the device, it recently crossed the desk at the FCC.

Formally known by the model number SM-A700FD, the Samsung Galaxy A7 has now been approved by the American regulatory body for release.

The FCC filing confirms that the Galaxy A7 features NFC and LTE connectivity and reveals its height of 150 mm and width of 75 mm. The dimensions support previous rumours of a 5.2-inch screen, making it the largest phone in the new Galaxy A series.

Samsung has packed a Full HD panel with a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution into the 5.2-inch screen. Boasting reasonable specs, theres a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 615 chipset, 2GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory.

As cameras go, the Galaxy A7 comes with 12-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter. It also runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat out-the-box.

Like its smartphone siblings, the Galaxy A7 will likely continue the same metal body trend started by the Samsung Galaxy Alpha.

There's no word on when Samsung plans on releasing the Galaxy A7, but considering it's been given the green light by the FCC, it's safe to say that the mid-range blower is just around the corner.

Meanwhile the Galaxy A5 is currently available to purchase in China and the Galaxy A3 will follow suit in the coming weeks. Both are expected to make their way overseas soon.
