The mobile messaging app that has become ubiquitous among international chatters now can be accessed from your web browser.
WhatsApp on Wednesday unveiled a new browser-based desktop chat option, calling the feature an “extension” of its smartphone apps. The web experience “mirrors” conversations from your mobile device, said WhatsApp.
The company’s desktop solution, however, is somewhat convoluted. To use it, you have to open https://web.whatsapp.com in Google Chrome and scan the QR code inside your WhatsApp smartphone app. Then, you must keep your phone connected to the Internet and make sure you have the latest version of WhatsApp.
There’s one big caveat, too: you can’t connect WhatsApp to your browser if you have an iPhone.
Facebook announced in February of last year it would purchase WhatsApp in a deal that closed in October for $19 billion in cash and shares. The app has more than 600 million active users.

You bet there is! Better still, the solution isn’t overtly technical. Take the following steps in Windows 7 and you’ll be patting yourself on the back in no time.

windows 7 step
- Right click on My Computer icon on the desktop. Then, click on Manage.
- Select Disk Management within the console tree (under Storage tab
- You will have to extend or shrink the volume size. If you want to expand or shrink the volume size, ensure you have sufficient space on the partition. Right-click on the partition and choose Extend Volume.
- The ‘Extend Volume Wizard’ dialog box show up wherein you would need to type the specific space amount of volume you plan to expand by. Choose the Select the amount of space in MB.Click on Next.
- Similarly, if you want to reduce the volume, right click the partition to select Shrink Volume.
- In case of adequate space availability, you will see a dialog box. Select Enter the amount of space to shrink and click on Shrink.

- Hold and Press Winkey+R. In the Run the utility, type diskmgmt.msc and press Enter. Windows Disk Management utility will then open up.
- Ensure you have adequate unallocated space to partition. To create the space, shrink the HDD by right clicking on the drive and selecting Shrink Volume.
- Enter the MB amount you intend to reduce shrink the HDD space. Click on Shrink. You will see the peak amount of space available via ‘Disk Management Utility’. You can also see the unallocated space region where a foundation needs to be created to use it.
- Right-click there to select New Simple Volume and open the New Simple Volume Wizard. Install it.
- Assign a driver letter to the disk.
- Select the NTFS file system.
- In the Volume Label, enter a name.
- Click on Finish. You’re done!
windows XP step
- Download any free hard disk partition manager software like AOMEI to resize the partition while preventing data loss.
- Install the AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard Edition where you’ll see the various partitions.
- Right click on a partition and choose Resize Partition.
- A pop-up window will emerge. Take the mouse pointer on the left and drag the slider bar to the right.
- To extend the volume, Click “OK”. You will see unallocated space behind the drive. Select that drive and drag the right handle to the right.

How to block spam messages on iOS
iOS 7 allows you to block spammers easily via the privacy settings. Updating to iOS 7 becomes necessary because the earlier versions were not so easy to use and it is easy to update as well so why not? Here are the steps to block spammers on iOS 7:
- Open the message you want to block.
- Tap the contact space.
- Tap the ‘i’ button.
- Scroll to the bottom of the contact card screen.

- Tap the ‘Blocked’ option and the list is displayed.
- Swipe the number you want to unblock from right to left.

Blocking spammers on Android

- You can create a ‘blacklist’ with apps like Mr. Number and SMS Filter to block numbers you don’t want to communicate at all with.
- You can go for Postman or Spam Blocker to flag spam messages.
Blocking spam on Android KitKat
The recent restrictions on apps make it impossible to use any of these apps on Android KitKat version so hopefully yours is an older version. For the KitKat version there are quite a few third-party applications on Google Play for example:
- EvolveSMS: That has its own ‘blacklist’ feature.
- SMSBlocker: That automatically spots and blocks spams.
Hangouts
You can sync your contact with Hangouts from the Play Store and operate your SMS through Hangouts itself. It has its own blocking option. Here are the steps to block numbers on Hangouts:
- Go to ‘Settings’.
- Go to ‘Wireless and Networks’.
- Tap ‘More’.
- Go to ‘Default SMS app’.
- Launch Hangouts to let the automatic syncing happen.
- Look for any message from a number you want to block.
- Tap the three vertical dots button at the top.
- Go to ‘People and options’.
- Tap on ‘Block’.
You are done. You can unblock from the Settings as well.
